~J~ <br />1 <br />Animal Control Officer, Mark 'Taylor, reported nineteen (ly) calls, three (3) impounds, <br />and two (2) returns. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Dvlen to <br />approve payment of the claims: Motion carried. 4-0. <br />Councilman Shields gave a quote from Thomas Payne and said he sees more needed to <br />be done in the Town and he wants the Town Council to enlarge their view from this <br />present day. Perry, Clerk-Treasurer <br />January 16, 2007 <br />[1 <br />The, Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at <br />6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />Council members present .were: President, Tom Warthen, Cauncihnen Eric Shields, <br />Toby Dolen, John L. Clark and Mark Harris. Town attorney, Tim Currens was present. <br />Jim Taylor from Grace Church gave the prayer. <br />President Warthen welcomed new member, Mark Harris to the Council. <br />A motion to approve the minutes of the January 2, 2007 meeting was made by <br />Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dalen and carried 5-0. <br />The first. item of business was an update an the Town's website by Councilman, Eric <br />Shields. Eric has volunteered to be the new website administrator and has met with <br />Jarboe, the website designer, and also the fawn employees who were designated to <br />maintain their department's web page. He would like to see the website advertised more <br />through ways such as the memo line on the sewer bills, the newspaper, etc. and is <br />working with the Chamber of Commerce to develop a way for local businesses to <br />advertise on the website and_.pay for that service as a way for the website to pay for itself. <br />He also stated that there is a need for an a-mail system within the town departments so <br />that the employees can communicate with each other via a-mail. Councilman Harris <br />asked Mindy Taylor, of the Chamber of Commerce, if she would include our website <br />address in her newsletters and she said she would. <br />The next item an the agenda was the Red Cross requesting permission to hang a banner <br />across north Indiana Street to advertise Red Crass Awareness Month. Mindy Taylor <br />from the Mooresville Chamber of Commerce was present to represent the Red Cross. <br />She explained that February is Red Cross Awareness Month and they are planning <br />activities all through the month to encourage residents within Morgan County to become <br />Red Cross volunteers. The banner would hang in the same location as the Victorian <br />Christmas Banner an north Indiana Street. The banner is 3'x20' and would be up <br />throughout the month of February. President Warthen stated that there had been some <br />problems in the past with banners coming dawn during strong winds or bad weather. Joe <br />Beikman stated that the problem was caused by the plastic coating on the cable that was <br />used. Mindy Taylor said it would be fastened with grommets but she didn't know if they <br />were plastic ar metal. Joe Beikman said there should be a cable running all the way <br />across the street. Mindy stated that she would ask the Red Cross to pay for any cables <br />needed and that she would contact IPL_ President Warthen explained that IPL would <br />have to give final permission for the banner to be hung. <br />
