Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals
MINUTES
Thursday, June 14th, 2012, 6:00pm
Mooresville Government Center
The Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals met in regular session on Thursday June 14th,
2012 at 6:00pm at the Mooresville Government Center.
Members present were: Neal Allman, Ann Whaley, and Mike Young. Alan Kramer was
not present. One position has yet to be filled. Town attorney Tim Currens was present.
A motion by Mike Young was made to approve the minutes from the previous meeting,
held in April 2012,the motion was seconded, motion carried 3-0.
Chairman Neal Allman announced that the agenda order would be altered as written. The
board discussed the need to research the history of 10075 N Rooker Rd before hearing
the variance request. Ann Whaley made a motion to table the Rooker Rd variance, Mike
Young seconded, motion passed 3-0. Neal Allman apologized to the audience for the
postponement,he explained research needed to be done before the request could be
heard. Neal Allman explained notification would be made to all regarding further
information or reschedule dates. Also on the agenda, 223 Taylor Street variance request
to allow a business in a residential neighborhood. The property owner indicated that he
wanted to use an existing residential structure for an internet/computer software
consulting sales company. The board ask how many employees he had,how much foot
traffic there was and to address the parking situation. He currently employees three
people, he has very little to no foot traffic, as it is not on site sales, and he wished to pour
a 20X40 concrete pad on the back corner of the lot. Ann Whaley questioned if anyone
would be living in the residence, and expressed concern as to a concrete pad: due to water
issues and didn't improve the property in anyway, plus concrete is permanent she thought
temporary solutions might be more ideal. Property owner discussed parking on the
streets, again addressed the three employees and lack of foot traffic. Ann Whaley made a
motion to pass with stipulations: no more than 4 employee work stations, and parking
with gravel etc, but no concrete. Neal Allman answered questions the property owner had
regarding the stipulations, Mike Young seconded the motion, motion passed.Neal
Allman asked for further business, nothing was brought up. Mike Young made a motion
to dismiss, Ann Whaley seconded, meeting adjourned.
S
