MOORESVILLE PLAN COMMISSION <br /> JUNE 24, 2010 <br /> Minutes <br /> The Mooresville Plan Commission met in regular session Thursday, June 24, 2010 at <br /> 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Members of the commission present were: Chairman Mike Young, Perry King, Charles <br /> Berwick, Beverly Viles, Bill Colbert, Jeff Dieterlen, and Ann Whaley. Town attorney <br /> Tim Currens was also present. <br /> The meeting was called at 6:00 p.m. A correction was pointed out on the previous <br /> meetings minutes. The Indy Lube property is adjacent to Indy Paint and Body. Member <br /> Ann Whaley made a motion to accept the minutes as corrected. Charles Berwick <br /> seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0 with none opposed. <br /> The first item on the agenda was tabled from the May 27, 2010, meeting. A special <br /> exception from the BZA was being sought by Brent Kern owner of Indy Lube at 359 <br /> Main Street. The commission was being asked to recommend the new use does not <br /> adversely affect town's master plan. Mr. Kern would like the business to offer complete <br /> repair shop services. He said there would never be more than five vehicles outside of the <br /> shop at any time. He said there would never be any "junk" cars left outside of the <br /> building. He has a three-year lease of the property. Member Charles Berwick made a <br /> motion to give a favorable recommendation. Member Bev Viles seconded the motion. It <br /> was passed 7-0. <br /> The second item on the agenda was a request for a special exception by Jim Clark for the <br /> property at 370 S. Indiana Street. He would like to have a detailing of automobiles <br /> business as well as automobile sales. Mr. Clark said he did not understand that he had to <br /> come to the plan commission prior to asking the BZA for a special exception. He was <br /> now coming to the plan commission for approval. Mr. Clark said he had already made <br /> $15,000 worth of improvements to the property. He has three employees besides himself <br /> He needs the approval to be able to get his license to sell vehicles. Member Bev Viles <br /> said it was nice to see some use out of the vacant property. Mrs. Viles made a motion to <br /> give a favorable recommendation to the BZA and that the use of the property would not <br /> adversely affect the town's master plan. Member Bill Colbert seconded the motion. It <br /> was passed 7-0. <br /> Cindy Grubbs of 2060 E. Reeves Road approached the commission on an item she has <br /> discussed previously. She said there is a property on Bethel Road that is zoned industrial <br /> and is being inhabited. Town attorney Tim Currens said he has sent a letter to the <br /> individuals in question that said they need to apply for a variance or"cease and desist." <br />
