MOORESVILL BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br /> M1NUTES <br /> THURSDAY, JUNE 14, 2001 <br /> <br />The Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals met on Thursday, June 14, 2001, at 7:00 P.M. <br />at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br /> <br />Members present were: Don Barry, President, Alan Kramer, Jeff Justice, and Mike <br />Young. Jonathan Swisher was absent. Town Attorney Tim Currens was present. <br /> <br />Motion to approve minutes of the May 10, 2001 was made by Mr. Kramer and second by <br />Mr. Justice. Motion carded 4-0. <br /> <br />First item on the agenda was Mr. Tom Ely of the Sign Group, representing the Steak and <br />Shake Restaurant, and Mr. Carson from Steak and Shake was also present. They were <br />requesting four sign variances. First variance was to change square footage from 150 sq. <br />feet to 349 sq. feet for signage, second 25 foot instead of 30 foot set back for pole from <br />property line, third add a fourth set of letters on the side of building since the building can <br />be seen from all four sides, and fourth was a 10 foot by 10 foot pile line sign with a mad <br />board underneath on 35 foot high pole. Mr. Young asked if this was standard of most <br />Steak and Shake Restaurants and Mr. Ely replied that they were. <br /> <br />Motion to approve change of square footage from 150 sq. feet to 349 sq. feet was made <br />by Mr. Kramer, second by Mr. Young. Motion carded 4-0. <br /> <br />Motion to approve four sets of signs, one on each side of building, was made by Mr. <br />Justice and second by Mr. Kramer. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> <br />Motion to approve sign height of 35 feet was made by Mr. Young and second by Mr. <br />Justice. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> <br />Motion to approve set back from 30 feet to 25 feet from property line was made by Mr. <br />Kramer and second by Mr. Justice. Motion carded 4-0. <br /> <br />Next was Mr. Jerry Burdsall, representing the Church of Christ at Mooresville, 720 N. <br />Indianapolis Road, requesting variance for an information sign from 15 sq. feet to 24 sq. <br />feet which will be 4 feet and 6 feet. They have a grass strip by curb, 5-foot sidewalk, and <br />another 15-foot grass strip on which they would like to center sign. This would make the <br />sign about 5 feet from sidewalk. The sign will be about 20 feet from edge of the road. <br /> <br /> Motion to approve sign variance from 15 sq. feet to 24 sq. feet and set back of 20 feet <br /> was made by Mr. Kramer and second by Mr. Justice. Motion carded 4-0. <br /> <br /> Next was Donato's Pizzeria at Fields Crossing. Representing Donato's was the <br /> construction engineer requesting additional signage consisting of 3.5 raceways beyond <br /> <br /> <br />
