<br />'" <br /> <br />ORDINANCE "3 <br /> <br />. 2000 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING <br />THE TOWN OF MOORESVILLE'S POLICE RESERVE PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Mooresville has been granted the authority through IC 36-8-3-20 <br /> <br />to establish a Reserve Police Program; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Mooresville finds that it is in the best interest to establish such <br /> <br />a program to assist in the protection and providing for the health and safety of its residents; <br /> <br />NOW, the Town Council for the Civil Town of Mooresville establishes the following <br /> <br />Ordinance creating a Reserve Program: <br /> <br />I GOALS OF THE RESERVE OFFICER PROGRAM <br /> <br />To establish a quality Reserve Program that maximizes the resources of the Reserve <br /> <br />Officers whether they are young people interested in starting a career in law enforcement or <br /> <br />Career Officers winding down a career and to provide services to the Police Department that <br /> <br />enhance the normal Police Officer's abilities to perform their duties in a manner that maximizes <br /> <br />their capabilities. It is the goal to have the reserve program serve the community and represent <br /> <br />the Department in a manner that is consistent with public trust and pride through training and <br /> <br />dedication. It is the intent of this Program to develop Reserve Officers that are efficient, <br /> <br />knowledgeable and dedicated to carrying out the missions of the Reserve Program through actions <br /> <br />consistent with the Mooresville Police Department policies in general. <br /> <br />II QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />A. Number of Reserves. The number of Reserves to serve the Department will be <br /> <br />determined each year during the annual budget process. Any benefits such as uniforms or <br /> <br />equipment shall not be considered compensation. <br />
