AN OI~DINANCE RESTRICTING USE OF PUBLIC FIRE tlYDRANTS WIIRI~EAS, the Civi] Town Code 36-1-32 has the affect the operation the health and safety of Mooresvi]]e; Mooresville, authority to pass ordinances necessary of the local government and to provide the citizens of the Civil Town of to Indiana to for WItEI~EAS, the Civil Town of Mooresville has received a request from the IloosJer Water Company, Inc. concerning the use of public h¥ilrnnl;~;; Ill,', IT III,',Rt;',I:~Y Oltl)I!',ltl;:l) AND OI~I)A]N5:D as; I!o]iows: I. That the Civil ri'own of Mooresville shall restrict the use of any public fire hydrant, public fire Ilydrant being defined as ~ny fire hydrant located on the right-of-way of the Civil Town of Moorosvi]]c, to rqpresentativos of the Mooresvil]e Fire and Street Del.>;]rtmeuts o~ the Iloosier Water Company employees, their engineers, or contractors. 2. 'l'h~nt anyone desiring to use a public hydrant shall first contac[; the MooresvJ lie Fire Department and request permission to have the lice department meet them to open the hydrant. In the event of ali emergency, the Mooresvi]le Police Dispatcher stall be contacted For a representative of the Mooresvi] le Fire Department to be present to open the hydrant and the party using the water shall keep records on the amount used and turn the same into the Itoosier Water Company, Inc. or its successors and assigns. 3. [n the event of non-emergency situations, the Mooresville Fire I)e])artment shall refer the request to the Hoosier Water Company to allow them to make arrangements for obtaining the water through the hydrant located at the Hoosier Water Company's mai]] office in Mooresville. 4. That the penalty for violation of this ordinance shall be a fine of not less than $25.00 nor more than $~,000 along wit}] any damnges to the hydl. nnt, cost of water, and any court costs. 5. That violations of. this ordinance shall be cited into the MooresvJ.]]e Town Court by the Mooresvil]e ']'own Marshall's office
