I ORDINANCE NO. ,~ , 1989 ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE INSTALLATION OF SMOKE DETECTORS IN THREE OR MORE FAMILY DWELLING UNITS AND MOBILE HOMES AND CERTAIN MANUFACTURED HOUSING WHEREAS, the Civil Town of Mooresville is governed by its Board of Trustees who are responsible for the health and safety of its citizens; WHEREAS, fire annually presents a health and safety factor to all citizens; WHEREAS, the Mooresville Fire Department has advised the Town of Board Trustees of studies done by the National Commission on Fire Prevention and Control and that said studies reveal that a large percentage of fire deaths and injuries could be avoided; WHEREAS, the Civil Town of Mooresville through its Board of Trustees recognizes that smoke detectors could help protect the public's health and safety from fires, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Board of Trustees of the Civil Town of Mooresville, Indiana: SECTION I - DEFINITIONS When used in this Ordinance: (1) "Smoke Detector" shall be defined as a device which detects particles or products of combustion other than heat, approved by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., or Factory Mutual, equipped with a test button, and may be either battery powered, minimum 9 volt, or 110 volt A.C. (2) "Multiple Family Dwelling Unit" shall be defined as any building that contains living quarters for three or more occupancies, and shall include hotels, motels, boarding houses, sleeping room house, buildings of mixed occupancy, having any residential units, nursing homes, convalescent homes, licensed half-way houses, or lodging houses. (3) "Mobile Home or Manufactured Housing and Mobile Homes" shall be defined as any mobile home, trailer, or manufactured housing not meeting the standards set out in Indiana Code 36-7-4- 1106 and all amendments thereto which is used for permanent occupancy to an individual or individuals as a residence.
