Minutes of the Metropolitan Police Commissioners Meeting May 17, 2007 The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone to the meeting. In attendance were Chief Timothy Viles, Town Attorney Tim Currrens and Police Commissioners Knierim and Berwick. Commissioner Berwick motioned to approve the minutes from April's meeting. Commissioner Knierim seconded the motion. Old Business Commissioner Knierim stated that they looked over SOP 1.03, Promotional Process. Commissioner Knierim did not want to approve the SOP until next month when Commissioner Kays would be present. New Business Chief Viles brought up the possibility of using a Promotion Test to assist in the selection of officers to promote in the future. Chief Viles also brought up changing the SOP that covers the Hiring of Mooresville Police Department Personnel. Both Commissioners agreed to look at a new SOP. Chief Viles also brought up the Limited Duty Policy of the Mooresville Police Department and both Commissioners agreed to look at a new SOP. The Commissioners were presented with copies of the "Limited Duty" Policies of the Plainfield Metropolitan Police Department and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Commissioner Knierim brought up the idea of expanding the Mooresville Police Department and the possibility of the property behind the PD being up for sale. Commissioner Knierim would like for the Town to check into the possibility to acquire the property for future expansion.
