Mooresville Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners <br /> Police Department Sue Kays <br /> Larry Bryant <br /> Steve Fitzpatrick <br /> MOORESVILLE POLICE COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> These are the Minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Police Commission <br /> held at the Mooresville Town Hall on August 21, 2014. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Sue Kays, Larry Bryant <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Captain Richard Allen,Amanda Carvell, Police Commission Attorney <br /> Charles Braun <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was given. <br /> Larry Bryant made a motion to accept May,June and July's minutes. Sue Kays seconded.No discussion. Motion <br /> passed unanimously. <br /> Chief Allen provided the Police Commission with the statistics from July.Chief Allen also updated that Police <br /> Commission on his monthly meeting with the Detective Division. <br /> Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the status of Sgt.Eric Pugh,currently on assignment with the <br /> Indiana National Guard. <br /> Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the proposed budget for 2015. Chief Allen stated that he added a 5% <br /> increase across the board,a$1000 pay increase for all employees.The proposed 2015 budget also included line <br /> items for the K-9 program and the Swat team. Chief Allen stated that he also included the purchase of 5 vehicles. <br /> Chief Allen advised the Police Commission that he had met with a subject in Bedford to discuss the future of the <br /> Mooresville Police Department K-9 program. <br /> Chief Allen also advised that Police Commission on the status of the school crossing guards. Chief Allen stated that <br /> we currently have five full time crossing guards and one sub crossing guard.The Police Commission and Chief <br /> Allen discussed the school crossing guards,who is responsible for hiring them and a memo of understanding <br /> between the town,the schools and the police department. <br /> Chief Allen updated that Police Commission on the status of the K-9 program. Chief Allen advised that one of the <br /> dogs had been evaluated a second time and he passed.Chief Allen advised that there were three officers interested in <br /> becoming K-9 officers. Chief Allen advised that training classes started in October and would like to get an officer <br /> enrolled as soon as possible. Chief Allen advised that he would like to move forward with this program and asked <br /> for the support and permission of the Police Commission to go and take possession of the dog evaluated and donated <br /> by Von Dietrich Kennels.Chief Allen stated that he would like to purchase a 2"d dog. Chief Allen advised that one <br /> of his officer's would be going to Ohio with a K-9 trainer from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department to look at a <br /> dog.Larry Bryant made a motion for the police department to continue with the K9 program. Sue Kays seconded. <br /> Questions were asked and answered. Motion passed unanimously. <br />
