MOORESVILLE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
MINUTES
NOVEMBER 22, 2013 2:00 P. M.
The Mooresville Redevelopment Commission met on November 22, at 2 P. M. with the
following members present: Chairman Harold Gutzwiller, Tim Connan, Don Stuhz, and
George Watkins. Town attorney Tim Currens was present.
The meeting was held to have a discussion about Mooresville Gateway and Corridor
Project.
The commission talked about the gateway at north and south entrances on Highway 67.
Commissioner Corman liked the low maintenance and traditional look of the stone with
the state flag and masonry where the corridor boundaries are.
6
They talked about the concept of a torch and limestone on the south side of Highway 67
at the South Indiana intersection.
Another discussion was the walkway over St. Rd 67 South of Highway 144 intersection.
This is a pedestrian walkway and Commissioner Corman didn't like the idea of using the
metal flag, Commissioner Stultz agreed but would like to see it in another form.
Commissioner Watkins said he had given thought to people throwing things off of the
walkway. They talked about caging in the walkway, but this wouldn't produce as much
light. The blue and gold metal flag might have other issues also such as snow, ice, and
keeping the color on the flag.
Commissioner Gutzwiller likes the blue and gold metal flag over the walkway because it
looks more dramatic. Commissioner Stultz suggestion was to see if Rundell could do a
3-D model. Commission Gutzwiller will call them and go thru all the questions raised
today with them.
Commissioner Corman told the commission they were going to have to sell him on the
idea of a park in Citizens bank parking lot. He doesn't see the purpose. Commissioner
Gutzwi tier stated: One it is a focal point and an anchor for Gateway and having some
green space downtown. There needs to be some green space because it adds to the
downtown.
