Joy Sessing asked Jason about the new statute that goes in to effect on July 1, 2011.
Jason explained that before 2008 the Town just had to approve expansion of the TIF
areas and amend. After 2008 the only way is to prove your Tll stream isn't enough to
handle TIF commitments and then go thru four or five steps to expand or set up a new
TIE District. The statute also gives the council more flexibility. If a company requests ,
ten year abatement and they qualify, they can request for no taxes to be paid for the full
ten years. If the Town Council chooses not to grant the company's request, that company
could go elsewhere to get the request granted.
Chairman Gutzwiller reported the commission had a number of projects pending and
have offers extended on the projects so his opinion is to retain the increment allocation
for 2012 payable.
A motion was made by Commissioner Corman with a second by Commissioner Haskins
to retain the increment allocation for 2012 payable. Motion carried 4-0.
A motion was made by Commissioner Watkins with a second by Commissioner Colman
to approve Harold Gutzwiller as signatory. Motion carried 4-0. •
Chairman Gutzwiller reported the Indy Tractor issue is still outstanding.
'There being no further business to come before the commission at this time a motion was
made by Commissioner Haskins to adjourn. /
hairman j
ATTEST:
/
Sccret e '
