Mooresville Metropolitan Police Department Board of Police Commissioners Larry Bryant Brian Wiser Fred Settle These are the Minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Police Commission held at the Mooresville Police Department on MEMBERS PRESENT: Larry Bryant, Brian Wiser ALSO PRESENT: Chief Allen, Chris Hester, Amanda Camell Call to order at 6:00 PM Brian Wiser made a motion to approve the minutes from November 2017's meeting. Larry Bryant seconded the motion. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the stats for November 2017. Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the stats for December 2017. Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the stats for the entire 2017 year. Chief Allen advised the Police Commission that Lt. Forbes has vacated his position as Lt and would like permission to begin the promotional process to replace his position. Brian Wiser made a motion to approve the promotional process for the Lieutenant. Larry Bryant seconded the motion. There was a little discussion. Motion passed unanimously. Chief Allen advised that currently he had two Sergeants that had over two years in the position that would be eligible for the promotional process. Chief Allen advised that he had spoke with both Sgt. McGauhey and Sgt. Cook, stating that both of them did not wish to be considered for the Lt. position. Chief Allen stated that Sgt. Whitley made it known that he would like to be considered for the Lt. position however he is one month short of the 2 year requirement as listed in the Mooresville Police Department job description for Lieutenant. Brian Wiser made a motion to waive the 2 year requirement contingent on Attorney Charles Braun's approval. Larry Bryant seconded the motion. Chief Allen advised that he would contact Braun regarding this motion. Motion passed unanimously. Chief Allen advised that with the promotion of a sergeant to a lieutenant, he would like to begin a promotional process for sergeant. Larry Bryant made a motion to begin the promotional process for Sergeant. Brian Wiser seconded the motion. There was very little discussion.
