Om <br />President Warthen wants permission to have the police commission delve into this problem. The <br />council does see we are losing officers and want to know why? He wants a motion. Councilwoman <br />Hester wants to make sure the officers won't feel any repercussions from talking to the council. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilwoman Hester to approach the <br />officers. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Council President Warthen requested this to be put on the Police Commission's meeting agenda. <br />Annual reports were given to the council members atthis meeting. <br />Department Head reports: <br />Danny Allen, Police Chief, requested to start the process for hiring for vacancy. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve the hiring process. Motion carried <br />5-0. <br />Brent Callahan, Park and Recreation, thanked the Department of Corrections for their 500 hours of <br />labor. Brent also reported he needed around 100 parttime employees for before and after school and <br />summer employees. <br />Dave Moore, Street Superintendent, reported they are sweeping streets, schedule for paving, working <br />on stormwater and concrete on Bridge Street, underground piping, still working on the ditch project, <br />and want to fill east of cemetery with trees. <br />Councilman Mathis reported the generator had been installed at the new Police Department. <br />Public comments: <br />A man (didn't give his name) said he moved here in June last year right of the light into TOA and the <br />noise from TOA was terrible. The council discussed no engine brakes -no combustion braking signs. <br />Council President Warthen said maybe it is something we can talk to TOA about, whether there is a new <br />piece of equipment or something changed that causes the noise. The council will check on the signs. <br />Councilman Mathis will talk to TOA. <br />Chris Hester (former police officer for Mooresville) thanked the council for checking into the Police <br />officers that are leaving. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve payment of <br />the claims in the amount of $436,626.18, Motion carried 5-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was made to adjourn <br />the meeting by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Stanley.
