M <br />A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve Town <br />attorney, Mel Daniel, to draw up an agreement and send to Indiana American Water. Motion carried 3- <br />0. <br />The old police department can be sold by auction, list with a broker, or sealed bid. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve the old <br />police department on West Main Street to go sealed bid. If bids come back too low you have to get a <br />new appraisal. The council could also stipulate a minimum bid. Motion carried 3-0. <br />Unfinished business: <br />Human Resources: Dustin Stanley suggested going with the same company the county is going with. <br />They will begin with the employee handbook. Councilman Stanley presented a letter of intent to them <br />and they will come back with a contract. A motion was made by Councilman Stanley with a second by <br />Councilman Mathis to seek a contract. Motion carried 3-0. <br />Humane Society; Councilman Stanley reported the Humane Society will help us collect our dogs with a <br />$23,000 a year commitment from us. Councilman Stanley requested the contract could be vacated any <br />time by either party. He sent a letter of intent also. A motion was made by Councilman Stanley with a <br />second by Councilman Mathis to seek a contract. Motion carried 3-0. <br />Department Head reports: <br />Tim Medsker, Fire Chief, reported Darrell Brown, Fire Inspector, was retiring after 24 years of service on <br />July 311. The Fire Department will be looking for another inspector/investigator. The person has to <br />have certification and fire service. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Stanley to give approval to the <br />Fire Chief to hire a replacement after everything is paid out. <br />Public Comments: Casey Shultz—commented she heard the council was going to hire a new Chief of <br />Police. The council said they hadn't heard the rumor. Then she asked if the council had spoken to Steve <br />Hibler. None of the council had. She asked who would do the hiring. First, Chief of Police, then it would <br />go to the Police Commission and then to the Town Council. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Stanley with a second by Councilman Mathis to approve payment of <br />claims in the amount of $2,573,844.67. Motion carried 3-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time, a motion was made by <br />Councilman Stanley with a second by Councilman Mathis to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 3-0. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, <br />att66:300PP.
