462 Street Department Building Quotes. DC Metals quote for the building itself materials and labor are <br />$90,000 with a concrete option that would add $27,750. Commercial Contracting Services LLC quote for <br />the building itself is $115,450 with a concrete option of $40,500. Sunco Construction quote for the <br />building itself is $103,401 with a concrete option of $51,830. David Moore gave a recommendation of <br />DC Metals based on the cost of the quote. Councilman Mathis made a motion to approve the contract <br />for DC Metals based on Dave's recommendation; this was_seconded by Councilman Rogers. Motion <br />Carried 4-0 <br />Councilman Mark Mathis was asked to give an update on the sale of town property located at 20 W <br />Harrison Ave. The environmental study is complete, the title company has been chosen, and it appears <br />to be on track to close on the sale by the end of 2019. In regards to the sale of the property located at <br />20 W Harrison Ave, Councilman Mathis made a motion that the Council President, Tom Warthen be the <br />signatory on the sale of the property located at 20 W Harrison Avenue, seconded by Councilman Rogers. <br />Motion carried 4-0 <br />Washington St. Cemetery. Councilman Mathis requested a motion to continue on with the Quit Claim <br />Deed process on the Washington Street Cemetery as the council had already agreed to split the costs <br />with the Methodist Church Trustees. Motion was made by Councilman Rogers the motion was seconded <br />by Councilman Stanley. Motion Carried 4-0 <br />Department Head Reports: <br />David Moore, Street Department Superintendent has been working with an insurance agent from <br />Selective Insurance as there is significant wind damage to the roof on the Government building and the <br />Street Department building. Those reports will be sent to the council. <br />Leaf pick up is heavy right now, but it is a day ahead of schedule. The congested traffic due to the <br />bridgework on State Road 67 was noted as it is going to be a long project; an attempt has been made to <br />obtain a completion date, but has not been obtained at this time. <br />Public Comments <br />Jeff Cook inquired as to the status and timeline of hiring the new police chief. Councilman Stanley made <br />it known that police commission has not been contacted at this time so as not to skew the process. <br />There is not a timeline in place in order to have an open and fair process without the constraint of a <br />deadline. Police Commissioner Danny Lundy addressed the council and said that the HR department has <br />been assisting with the process of staying compliant and unbiased. Interviews have been scheduled; <br />background checks are in process right now. After the interviews have concluded and the background <br />checks are in then a decision will be made. There is no specific timeline though the background checks <br />are expected sometime in December. Interviews and background checks are being done concurrently. <br />Motion for Approval of Claims: <br />4 motion was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve claims in <br />the amount of $647,932.13 Motion Carried 4-0. <br />Motion to Adjourn: <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion to adjourn was made <br />by Councilman Rogers with a second from Councilman Stanley. Motion Carried 4-0. <br />Next Meeting Date: <br />The next scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 <br />at 6:30 P.
