Um <br />Southside Sewer Project — Ken Elliott from Banning Engineering gave an update on the Phase 1 <br />project and proposed a change to the Phase 2 project. There was a discrepancy of the capacity <br />of the pumps at the current lift station at Crosby Rd, however with some changes they can <br />make compensations so that an additional lift station does not have to be installed. Councilman <br />Warthen made a motion to approve the changes that Banning Engineering proposed. <br />Councilman Stanley seconded. Motion carried 3-0 <br />Department Head Reports - Matt Dalton, acting Fire Chief gave the council the July response <br />report. The Baby box has been installed and currently in the process of writing the Standard <br />Operating Procedure. Seven cycles of tests are required before it can be up and running. <br />Anticipates having it ready by end of September. <br />An employee has submitted FMLA paperwork that Matt Dalton presented. There was some <br />discussion as to how FMLA approvals should be handled by the council and if it is something <br />that needed to be reviewed with the HR consultant. Councilman Stanley made a motion to <br />approve the FMLA request. Councilman Warthen seconded. Motion Carried 3-0. <br />The chief requested permission to pursue an offer of employment to a candidate, however <br />because the list had expired in December of 2019. Town Attorney Lee is going to research the <br />eligibility of the list to be extended or if the list qualifies to need an extension. <br />Legal - <br />Roofing Contract—Town Attorney has talked with Mr. Smalling's attorney, and is <br />recommending moving on to the next lowest bidder to have the work completed. <br />Dave Moore indicated that he reached out to the next lowest bidder Sunco Construction to see <br />if they would be ready to complete the work for the amount that had been previously bid, and <br />they indicated that they would. <br />Phase 1 of the sewer project, one owner has reached out and stated that they would be willing <br />to settle for $2,000, and while he does not typically recommend the approval of a claim he does <br />recommend approving this claim in order to save time and money. Councilman Warthen made <br />a motion to accept the town attorney's recommendation and settle the property claim for <br />$2,000. Motion was seconded by Councilman Stanley. Motion Carried 3-0. <br />Public Comments— None <br />Approval of Claims - <br />A motion was made by Councilman Stanley with a second by Councilman Warthen to approve <br />claims in the amount of $620,739.51 Motion Carried 3-0 <br />
