1558 <br />Department Head Reports: <br />Chief Julian thanked the council for raise for the sworn in police and firefighter employees. He <br />reported that one of the officers handed in their resignation with the intent of their last day <br />being the 30th although that was not official. Chief Allan got confirmation that the Town was <br />awarded their VEST grant. He gave the incident report for October. <br />John Robinson thanked the Council for the work they put in getting the raises for the sworn <br />police and firefighter employees. <br />Legal: <br />None <br />Public Comments: <br />None <br />Approval of Claims: <br />Councilwoman Hester made the motion to approve claims for $480,452.77. Councilman <br />Warthen seconded. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Town Council Comments: <br />Councilman Cook thanked Councilman Warthen again for the work he put in towards the raises <br />for the police and fire departments. <br />Councilman Stanley gave an update on the revisions of the employee handbook, and the steps <br />forthcoming to adopt it as well as thanking Councilman Warthen for the work he put in to <br />accommodating the raises for the sworn police and firefighter employees. <br />Council President Williams presented the community crossings grant letter to be signed by the <br />council as the approval for the application to be submitted had already been passed. He also <br />addressed the semi -trailer that was stuck due to being entangled in a traffic light on the corner <br />of Indiana and Main. That pole has been hit, and cannot be returned to its original state as the <br />skirts for the pole are cost prohibitive. He would like to ask the redevelopment commission to <br />review the placement of that light. <br />Councilman Warthen gave his idea about moving the pole to the Southeast corner with the <br />infrastructure for the electricity being on that corner it may be a viable solution. He also <br />proposed the Council President write a letter to Hendricks council requesting a way to change <br />the weight limits on 267. Council President Williams agreed with that idea, and there was some <br />further discussion of possible future traffic woes. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, <br />October 20, 2020 at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion to adjourn <br />was made by Councilman Warthen with a second from Councilman Stanley.
