TOWN OF MOORESVILLE <br />ORDINANCE NO: 1-2021 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MOORESVILLE EMPLOYEE MANUAL TO <br />INCLUDE A NEW HOLIDAY <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Mooresville (the "Town') is a political subdivision <br />existing under the provisions of Ind. Code § 36-4-1, et. seq.; <br />WHEREAS, the Mooresville Town Council (the "Council") is the fiscal body of <br />the Town; <br />WHEREAS, the Town has previously adopted an ordinance establishing the <br />holidays it recognizes and honors, which list of holidays is identified on Exhibit A; <br />WHEREAS, the Town has also previously adopted an employee manual that <br />memorializes all benefits the Town employees may receive, which includes the paid <br />holidays identified herein; <br />WHEREAS, the Town Council now desires to amend the list of holidays to add a <br />paid holiday for "Juneteenth," which is recognized on June 19 of each year, and is a <br />holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United <br />States; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mooresville Town Council as <br />follows: <br />1. The Paid Holiday Time Section outlined in Section 8.2 of the employee <br />manual is hereby amended to include Juneteenth, June 19, as a paid holiday for all <br />Town employees. <br />2. Upon adoption of this ordinance, the Clerk -Treasurer shall make all <br />necessary amendments to the manual. <br />3. This Ordinance shall be effective upon it passage by the Mooresville Town <br />Council and any publication required by law. <br />
