Dawn Brock also expressed her concern about funding a K-9 unit. She would like to see it in the <br />budget, even offering to start a petition to ensure this would be a permanent budget item, and <br />mentioned using Covid ftmds to seed the purchase and initial training. She also said that she <br />would like to see a fund for the retired K-9 units to help offset after retirement costs for the <br />animals for when they are retired due to medical reasons. <br />Council President Tom Warthen discussed a few proposals to pay off debt for the police <br />department and dispatch equipment, which would free up funds to fund a K-9 unit and free up <br />CCD funds. He also talked about perhaps being able to offer zero -cost health insurance to the <br />town employees for at least two years with the possibility of continuing if trends continue in the <br />current path. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, <br />August 17, 2021, at 6:30 P.
