1747 <br />Council President stated that the CCD other capital outlays do have the funds available to cover <br />the costs of the painting. Councilman Cook made a motion to approve the bid to repaint the <br />government center for $23,842, second by Councilman Williams. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Council President Warthen gave an update on the handoff of the server passwords. The <br />passwords are needed to connect and activate ports so the Park Department can access the <br />things they need via the intranet. There was some reluctance from the town's IT department to <br />hand over those passwords due to some internal security concerns. The Parks Department is on <br />a different network and only needs passwords to access its own servers. Councilman Williams <br />made a motion to have Town Attorney Lee and Council President Warthen work together with <br />Steve Oshman to get the Parks department the passwords they need in order to use the <br />internet. Second by Councilman Cook. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Legal — <br />Town attorney Lee presented Resolution 5-2022 which is a resolution to opt back into the <br />Opioid settlement. The;settlement was updated through the State earlier in the year. The town <br />had previously opted out due to concerns over the restrictions. Councilman Williams made a <br />motion to approve Resolution 5-2022, second by Councilman Swinney. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Public Comments — <br />Braxton Hughes came before the council to discuss the K-9 unit and his displeasure with <br />members of the council and their decision to remove former Chief Julian. <br />Rosemary Julian came before the council to address allegations about a missing firearm at the <br />police department, going over the move and the timeline of the discovery of the missing <br />firearm and who knew about the lost firearm before the police report was filed. She criticized <br />members of the council for their conduct and the demotion of former Chief Julian. She listed <br />the numerous things that Chief Julian did to benefit the Police Department during his time of <br />service. <br />Mel Perry came before the council to voice her displeasure with the council members over the <br />council's treatment of the Police department. <br />Rob Samuels came before the council to ask questions about the council member's <br />involvement on other town commissions and boards. He voiced his displeasure with members <br />of the council over local business Furry Friends' recent issues, the removal of former Chief <br />Julian, and council member Williams' social media postings. <br />Ann Miller from Martinsville came before the council to commend three of the town's officers, <br />David Schultz, Scott Hamilton, and Mr. Miller for assisting her during an accident in the Town of <br />Mooresville. <br />Councilman Stanley made the motion to approve claims for $458,918.18, second by <br />Councilman Williams, and carried 5-0. <br />Town Council Comments— <br />Councilman Williams read a statement he provided to a reporter and stated he would not try to <br />refute any statement. However, he disagrees with many of the characterizations made about <br />him. He apologized for how people treated Brock Chipman at the previous meeting. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, <br />May 3, 2022, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />
