The council granted the consensus. <br />Department Head Reports — <br />Chief Dalton sought the consensus of the town council to continue working with legal counsel <br />regarding the antique fire truck. A group of Mooresville residents wants to donate the <br />historical fire truck to the town with the stipulation that it can never be sold or donated as it is <br />the Town of Mooresville's first fire truck. The group would continue raising donations and <br />restoring the truck. The council agreed that he should continue to work with the legal team on <br />this issue. <br />Legal — <br />Comprehensive Plan Non -Reverting Fund -Town attorney Lee was not present to discuss the <br />agenda item. <br />Public Comments— <br />Rob Samuels came before the council to set the record straight on a couple of statements he <br />made at the previous meeting. Including Brock Chipman's work experience as he has ten years <br />total experience. He also doesn't want to say that the whole council is against the police <br />department. He still would like some answers about what boards council members can sit on. <br />He also mentioned reading the employee handbook. He stated that records could be requested <br />for the town emails sent and would suggest ensuring the town employees know that they <br />cannot erase emails or text messages off personal devices. <br />Jayne Smith came before the council to voice her opposition to the potential rezoning of East <br />South St., stating that her family has been on their properties since before 1932 and that she <br />does not want the council to grant the rezone to 1-3. And she would like to ensure she knows <br />when the next public hearing will be for the potential rezone as she would like to be in <br />attendance to voice her concerns. <br />Councilman Stanley made the motion to approve claims for $642,993.98. Councilman Cook <br />seconded. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Williams gave an update on the 200th celebration committee and an update on the <br />steering committees on the Town Comprehensive plan. <br />Councilman Stanley stated that the RDC formed a subcommittee to look at future projects. <br />They would like to have representation from the town council. <br />Councilman Williams wanted to thank the people who participated in the Beikman clean-up <br />day. _ <br />Council President Warthen asked about potential timing for the upcoming budget hearings. The <br />council members agreed to schedule a workday hearing at 5:30 p.m. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, <br />May 17, 2022, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />There being no further business to come before the council, Councilman Stanley made a motion <br />to adjourn with a second from Councilman Cook.
