Mooresville Wasterwater Department will take over the service and maintenance of the lift station in
Pioneer Park. Information is being gathered regarding the lift station to the Wastewater Department.
Since our lift station is not currently on its alarm notification system, we will continue to drive by and
monitor if the alarm goes off.
Cub Scouts is requesting to use the pool for 10-15 4th and 5th graders to receive an Aquatic
Adventure Pin. The tasks are essential but would not be too time-consuming to be able to accomplish
during open hours with a minimal fee. The Cub Scouts would be required to provide a certificate of
insurance. Motion to approve the Cub Scout Adventure Badge Request by Lynn Adams, seconded by
Matt Saner. Motion carried.
The Mooresville and Monrovia Lions Club is requesting the use of a shelter for their Community Picnic
to kick off their 150th year of Old Settlers. They also asked about the use of the stage. Discussion
ensued. Motion to approve the shelter request (depending on available date) waives the shelter fee,
denying the stage request for Mooresville/Monrovia Lions Club Community Picnic Motion made by
Mark Taylor, seconded by Lynn Adams. Motion carried.
Board President Bechtold asked the Board for a Park Board work session to review board roles and set
the department's foundation moving forward. Discussion ensued. Tentatively a date in June for work
session.
Supt. Wilson informs the Board on the IT Setup and Control of Network Switches and Ports for the
Park. The Town Council has requested that Telemagen give our IT the passwords and control of the
switches and ports at the Park. We have still not received this information and have requested at the
very least that the Park switches and ports all be turned on so that we can use them.
Supt Wilson invited the Board to be present as special event staffing and coverage. Full-time staff will
also be in rotation with special events and staffing. The Park will order unique shirts for events.
After the April Park Board meeting, a no skateboarding sign was posted at Bicentennial Park. Supt
Wilson spoke about posting a rule, and rules do not need an ordinance or resolution change.
Asst. Supt. Simpson informed the Board of the new employees and returning employees. List in pre -
meeting noted
Asst. Simpson is wrapping up last-minute interviews with summer applicants and is finishing off the
final few hirings for the summer. Concessions/cashiers and camp staff are fully staffed. The Park is still
in need of lifeguards for the summer.
Staff training began May 9 and will continue for the remainder of the month leading up to our
opening day of May 21. Staff training schedule in pre -meeting notes.
Asst. Simpson updated Board on summer program registration, with nearly all swim lessons being full.
PAC only has five weeks that still can take a couple more campers, and REC camp still has about 12
spaces left each week.
