UM <br />SB -1 Ascension Group LLC is known locally as UTS. They have identified a site they would like to <br />invest in and have submitted an SB -1 requesting a tax abatement on the first two buildings of a <br />planned four -building campus. Councilman Cook made a motion for the legal counsel to move <br />forward in preparing a declaratory and a confirmatory resolution for a later hearing date. <br />Councilman Brown seconded. Motion carried 4-0 <br />Resolution 2023-8 Fire Department Surplus - Councilman Cook made a motion to approve <br />Resolution 8-2023. Councilman Brown seconded. Motion Carried 4-0 <br />Department Head Reports - <br />DPW Superintendent Dave Moore gave an update on the community crossing project. The <br />progress is moving forward, and the negotiator only needs to obtain a few more right-of-way <br />settlements. He gave an update on the sewer lining project and said it should be finished before <br />school starts if everything stays on track. <br />Park & Rec Superintendent Phil Cornelius gave an update on the warranty replacement of the <br />pool heater. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the old town park restroom has been delayed <br />until possibly the first part of July. Final demolition of the building the fire department trained <br />on is slotted for the week of June 12th. <br />Chief Dalton gave an update on the DNR grant, and he is awaiting the reopening of the fiscal year <br />for the State. Chief Dalton recommended moving forward with the surplus offer from the Town <br />of Monrovia. There was some discussion about the requirement of removal of lights if sold <br />through municibid. Councilman Cook made a motion to list the vehicle on municibid. Councilman <br />Swinney seconded. Motion carried 4-0 <br />Assistant Police Chief John Forbes gave an update on the car damaged in a recent pursuit. The <br />insurance company was notified but will probably be considered a total loss. <br />Legal — <br />Resolution 7-2023 Inter -Local Agreement - This is an inter -local agreement with the school <br />regarding the property involved in the community crossing project. Councilman Cook made the <br />motion to approve Resolution 7-2023. Councilman Swinney seconded. Motion carried 4-0 <br />Public Comments - <br />There were none. <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve payroll clearing of $231,301.14. Councilman Brown <br />seconded. Motion carried 4-0 <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve claims of $633,23.10. Councidman Brown seconded. <br />Motion carried 4-0 <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Warthen provided an update on the funds received from the Meijer settlement. <br />Additionally, he recommended redirecting the initial donation of $24 000 to Stability First to the Meijer <br />settlement. <br />Councilman Cook made a motion to move forward with the reallocation of funds. Councilman Brown <br />seconded. Motion carried 4-0 <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, June 20, <br />2023, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />
