Assistant Chief Russell agreed with adjusting the probationary rate and advocated forth elateral firefighter <br />position. He mentioned that the concept of different pay rate for skilled and unskilled employees already <br />exist in the salary ordinance for other departments. There were discussions on how these changes could <br />affect the budgeting process. <br />Councilman Williams motioned to table the lateral transfer proposal, Councilman Swinney seconded, and <br />the Motion Carried 4-0. <br />Councilman Brown motioned to amend the salary ordinance for probationary firefighters. Councilman <br />Swinney seconded. Motion carried 4-0. <br />He gave an update on the surplus vehicle auction, which has currently met the $8,000 reserve. <br />Dave Moore gave an update on the land acquisition of the community crossing project, which is nearly <br />complete. He voiced his appreciation for the assistance with the banners and gave an update on a repair <br />to one of the air handlers. <br />Chief Buckner gave an update on the new vehicles that will be coming into commission. Two applicants <br />are going through the PERF process and have yet to be through the academy. <br />He gave an update on the Car Show fundraiser; however, the final numbers still need to arrive, and he <br />praised Regina's work on the car show. <br />Chief Buckner gave an update on the K-9 program a third dog has been donated from the sheriff's <br />department that is a narcotics dog, but it could be towards the end of the year before it would join the <br />force. He praised the dog in service and the second dog will start its narcotics training soon. He gave an <br />update on the FLOCK cameras and the access is live. <br />Phil Cornelius thanked the council for the consideration and approval of the new mowers. He gave an <br />update on the installation of the disc golf course it is still currently being mapped out. Old Settler's dates <br />are August 3-6`h, parade is scheduled for Sunday. <br />Calvin Boultree gave a favorable update on the wastewater treatment system. <br />Legal — <br />There were none. <br />Public Comments — <br />Dave Snyder shared his concerns about implementing an event coordinator. He would like to address more <br />pressing issues, such as the stray animals, a code enforcement officer, the addition of an HR person, or the <br />implementation of a town manager, before adding an event coordinator. <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve payroll clearing in the amount of $232,998.32. <br />Councilman Brown seconded. Motion Carried 4-0. <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve claims in the amount of $794,431.46. Councilman <br />Brown seconded. Motion Carried 4-0. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Monday, July 3, <br />2023 at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion to adjourn was made <br />by Councilman Swinney with a second from Councilman Brown. Motion Carried 4-0. <br />
