Public Comments — <br />Cathy Vanhal, 3800 Hunters Road, approached the council to discuss the town's delay in addressing <br />noncompliance issues related to Lawyer Trucking on Old State Road 67. She expressed her dissatisfaction <br />with the town council's handling of this matter. Attorney Lee will be contacting Mrs. Vanhal to address her <br />concerns. <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve claims of $867,155.71. Councilman Brown seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve payroll clearing of $268,033.67. Councilman Brown <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Williams stated he believed the council had previously voted to proceed with legal actions <br />addressing the violation of Lawyer Trucking and asked about the process moving forward. <br />Councilman Williams understood that the town council had received an award from the Kendricks <br />Foundation. However, he hasn't seen any presentation of the award to the council and would like to know <br />its whereabouts. <br />Councilman Williams requested an executive session regarding one department employee inaccurate <br />timecard keeping. Councilman Williams motioned to hold an executive session at 5:30 p.m. on August <br />15". Councilman Cook seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Council President Warthen acknowledged receiving the Kendrick Foundation award, which is currently in <br />the Clerk Treasurer's office. This award was given in recognition of the Town Council's public actions on <br />mental health. The Council president will have the award available at the next meeting. <br />The next regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at <br />6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion to adjourn was made by <br />Councilman Brown with a second from Councilman Swinney.
