1902 <br />Department Head Reports — <br />Clerk -Treasurer Dianna Wamsley gave an update on replacing the audio and video equipment in the <br />Government Center meeting room. She has been working with Debbie Monts and Tammy Van Hook to <br />ensure a comprehensive examination of all aspects of the audio and video project. The objectives for the <br />new equipment are to improve transparency and create a positive experience for taxpayers and YouTube <br />viewers. Two companies will be present at the November 21" council meeting to deliver a presentation <br />and provide a quote for the equipment and maintenance agreement. <br />Councilman President Warthen provided an update, stating that the Community Crossing matching grant <br />has been approved. However, approval from the council is required for him to sign the grant. Councilman <br />Williams motioned to allow Council President Warthen the authority to sign for the grant. Councilman <br />Cook seconded. Motion Carried 5-0. <br />Legal - <br />There were none. <br />Public Comments — <br />Rob Samuels expressed his views on the IT proposals, advocating for allocating additional funds to improve <br />IT security for the town. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the town's security over cost-cutting <br />measures. Additionally, he voiced support forthe non-profit grant option and the employee bonus option. <br />He congratulated Kirk Witt for winning the council position in the election. <br />Approval of Claims - <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve claims for $1,008,459.15. Councilman Brown seconded. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br />Approval of Payroll Clearing - <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve payroll clearing for $219,626.35. Councilman Brown <br />seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Cook voiced his opinion that IT is the top priority, and that the town has neglected IT and <br />not the current provider. <br />Councilman Williams suggested giving the surviving spouses of two council members who passed away <br />while in office a special recognition for their spouse's service to the community. He also inquired about <br />the donation request for Victorian Christmas and questioned why it's not on the agenda. There was <br />some discussion, and no request has been made to include it on the agenda. <br />The next regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at <br />6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion to adjourn was made <br />by Councilman Brown with a second from Councilman Williams.
