6. NEW BUSINESS <br />6.1 After reviewing the 2024 Operational Budget, upon a motion by Danny Shaw, seconded by BJ <br />Bungard; the Board voted 7/0 approve the Parks Department's 2024 budget as presented by <br />staff. <br />6.2 Staff and the Planning Committee (BJ Bungard, B. Callahan, M. Saner) met on <br />September 21St and discussed the scope of the project and specifics of the new <br />maintenance facility, event center, and funding strategies. <br />6.3 V3 has started the process of surveying the park property which is on schedule for <br />potential completion in October. <br />6.4 Board discussed RFA Pioneer Park Expansion. After discussion, upon a motion by Danny Lundy, <br />seconded by Mark Taylor, the Board voted 7/0 to authorize the Superintendent to proceed <br />with drafting and releasing RFQs and RFPs to the conclusion of proceeding toward <br />project completion of the Pioneer Park Expansion. <br />6.5 Board discussed Park's Memorial Program. After discussion, upon a motion by Brent Callahan, <br />seconded by Mark Taylor, the Board voted 7/0 to approve the adoption of Resolution <br />2023-01 <br />6.6 Board discussed the 2025-2029 Strategic Master Plan. After discussion, upon a motion by Lynn <br />Adams, seconded by Danny Lundy, the Board voted 7/0 to approve the Superintendent to <br />proceed with the drafting of the RFP for a third -party consultant to help the <br />Department draft the 2025-2029 Strategic Master Plan. <br />SUPPORTING <br />7. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />7.1. Assistant Superintendent Report <br />7.1.1 Fall Break will begin October 13th and runs through the following week, October 20th. <br />As of date, there are 30 kids registered. Camp will run at Neil Armstrong Elementary <br />School and take a field trip to Beasley's Orchard. <br />7.1.2 Halloween Hike scenes are set and soliciting donations. Halloween Hike will run <br />Saturday, October 28 3-5pm <br />7.1.3 We are actively hiring for RECU Before/After School Care. <br />7.2 Superintendent Report <br />7.2.1 No formal report, answering board questions. <br />
