Mooresville Metropolitan Police Department Board of Police Commissioners Ernie Wilson Fred Settle Christopher Hobbick MOORESVILLE POLICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES These are the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Police Commission, held at the Mooresville Police Department on October 19, 2023. Members Present: Fred Settle, Chris Hobbick, Ernie Wilson Also Present: Chief Kerry Buckner, Attorney Charles Braun The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM. Ernie Wilson made a motion to approve the minutes from the August 17th meeting, which was cancelled. Fred Settle seconded the motion. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. Ernie Wilson made a motion to approve the minutes from the September 21st meeting. Fred Settle seconded the motion. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. Old Business No old business from the Police Commission, Chief Buckner or Attorney Braun. New Business No new business from the Police Commission. Chief Buckner stated that he updated SOP 30.04, Discharging Firearms. He stated that he combined several fragmented SOPS. There was some discussion between all parties present regarding sections of the SOP that needed clarification. Ernie Wilson made a motion to approve SOP 30.04 as written. Fred Settle seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Chief Buckner asked if he needed to bring the discontinued and/or re -written SOPS before the board. Attorney Braun stated that it was a good idea to have a statement that the SOPs were no longer being used for whatever reason. Attorney Braun advised that he would be out of town for the meeting in November. He asked if the commission would consider changing the date of the meeting or if they were satisfied with calling him on the 16th if he was needed. The commission stated that they were satisfied with calling him if he was needed. The next meeting will be held on November 16, 2023.
