Department Head Reports — <br />Chief Buckner gave an update on the department's current staffing. There was a discussion about the <br />proper disposal of old records found during the mold remediation. <br />Chief Dalton updated that the department was given a $10,000grantthat is 50/50 matched for fire gear. <br />Council President Warthen gave an update on the movement to form a fire territory. He requested <br />permission from the council members to continue discussing this as a possibility, <br />Councilman Brown motioned to allow the Council President to continue discussing a fire territory. <br />Councilman Swinney seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Dave Moore gave an update on the inlining project. <br />Legal — <br />None <br />Public Comments — <br />Rob Halcomb requested assistance with a nuisance property near his home and the possibility of updating <br />the ordinances. There was some discussion of what the next steps would be. <br />Approval of Claims - <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve claims in the amount of $957,302.39. Councilman <br />Brow seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Approval of Payroll Clearing - <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve payroll clearing in the amount of $202,759.41 . <br />Councilman Brown seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve payroll clearing in the amount of $229,564.04 . <br />Councilman Brown seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Witt extended his condolences to Helen Knight's family. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, February <br />20, 2024 at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion to adjourn was made <br />by Councilman Swinney with a second from Councilman Brown.
