Councilman Brown made a motion to close the public hearing. Councilman Swinney <br />seconded. The motion carried 5-0. <br />Department Head Reports— <br />Chief Buckner announced that Darlene Moore wilt retire on July 31st. The department has hired one <br />person. <br />Chief Dalton gave an update on the surplus vehicles and where he is in the hiring process for two <br />candidates. He is also in the process of replacing one of the commercial stoves at the firehouse. <br />Phil updated the town council on the progress of the five-year master plan. He mentioned several <br />town festivities, including the Independence Day celebration and concerts on July 4th. <br />Legal— <br />None <br />Public Comments — <br />None <br />Approval of Claims - <br />Councilman Swinney motioned to approve the claims for $946,652.57. Councilman Brown <br />seconded. The motion carried 5-0. <br />Approval of Payroll Clearing - <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve payroll clearing for $265,970.49. Councilman <br />Brown seconded. The motion carried 5-0 <br />Town Council Comments— <br />Councilman Swinney expressed his sentiments for a safe and fun Independence Day. <br />Council President Worthen mentioned the Budget Workshop will be held on July 3rd at 9:00 AM. <br />The next regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at <br />6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />With no further business before the council, Councilman Brown made a motion to adjourn, which <br />Councilman Swinney seconded.
