Mooresville Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners Police Department Ernie Wilson Fred Settle Christopher Hobbick MOORESVILLE POLICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES These are the minutes of the scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Police Commission, held at the Mooresville Police Department on June 20, 2024. Members Present: Chris Hobbick, Fred Settle Also Present: Chief Buckner, Attorney Charles Braun (via telephone) The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM. No new minutes to approve. No old business for the Police Commission. No old business for the Chief of Police. No old business for the Attorney. There was discussion among the present members regarding changes to SOP 1.02 (Promotions) to accept time that laterals worked at their departments to make them eligible to apply for a promotion. This would waive their probationary year. It was discussed that when the SOP is changed permanently that the year of probation would probably be required. Commissioner Hobbick made a motion to make an emergency change for the current promotion process. The emergency order will expire on January 1, 2025. Commissioner Settle seconded the motion. No discussion after the motion. Motion passed unanimously. Chief Buckner presented Andrew Ballard as the newest lateral hire for the department. Commissioner Hobbick made a motion to approve Ballard. Commissioner Settle seconded. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. No public comments. The next meeting will be held on July 18, 2024.
