6.1.2 The 2025 Parks Non -Reverting Budget of $829,535 was presented to the Park
Board. The budget is a 10% cut from the 2024 budget.
6.1.2.1 Upon motion by Danny Lundy, seconded by Mark Taylor, the board voted 6/0 to
submit the presented budget to the Town Council.
7. DEPARTMENT REPORTS
7.1 Assistant Superintendent Report
7.1.1 RECU is going strong; we currently have 354 students enrolled in our program,
up from 348 last year. We are currently on waiting lists at Neil Armstrong, North
Madison, and Northwood. We need morning staff to operate with our people on
the waiting lists.
7.1.2 The Halloween Hike scenes are being set up, and sponsorship letters are being
sent out to local businesses. We are also working on adding a couple of
upgrades to the shelter scenes to make them more fun. The Halloween Hike will
take place on Saturday, October 26th from 3 to 5 pm.
7.1.3 Our summer concert series concluded in August. Thanks to all vendors and RD
Productions for their support. We've discussed 2025 concerts with Rob and will
receive a tentative list of dates soon.
7.1.4 The Mother Son campout is Saturday, September 21 st. This year, instead of the
Mother Son Dance, we're offering a fun campout experience with hiking,
hayrides, s'mores, and more. Camping is optional. 41 couples signed up.
7.1.5 Neil Armstrong, Northwood, and North Madison need morning staff. We've
contacted principals and admins at each school to gauge interest. Telly will host
RECU Staff training on Saturday, September 21 st to review our first month at
school and discuss improvements.
7.2 Superintendent Report
7.2.1 We have closed on the property located at 531 E County Line Rd. The
maintenance crew has been working hard to clean up the exterior of the
property. We will postpone any internal demolition of the building until after we
conduct an asbestos check. We will collaborate with the Police and Fire
departments to plan training in both J1 and S1. After both departments have
completed their training, we will schedule the demolition of both locations.
7.2.2 We've reviewed our policy for RECU workers receiving free care in return for
their work. The policy requires employees in good standing to work a minimum
of 18 hours per pay period to remain eligible. This ensures fairness, consistent
work performance, responsible benefit allocation, and efficient resource
management while supporting employees who meet our standards.
