MOORESVILLE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br /> MINUTES <br /> THURSDAY, AUGUST 9, 2001 7:00 P. M. <br /> <br />The Board of Zoning Appeals met on Thursday, August 9, 2001, at 7:00 P. M. at the <br />Moomsville Town Hall. <br /> <br />Members present were: President Don Barry, Alan Kramer, JeffJustus, Jon Swisher, and <br />Mike Young. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim Curmns was present. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Alan Kramer, second by JeffJustus to approve minutes of July 12, <br />2001. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />First on the agenda, Marvin McGregor, 436 Carlisle-request tbr a variance to change <br />entrance from alley to front off of Carlisle Street. Mr. McGregor did not appear. <br />Attoney Tim Currens said this would be tabled to next meeting and new notices would <br />have to be sent. <br /> <br />Next, Mr. Goodwin, Pastor of Heritage Church, located at 61 West Harrison Street, with <br />a request to construct a fellowship hall onto the back of their chumh. He told the board <br />they had several senior people and they needed to be in compliance with an ADA <br />mstroom. He also said they needed more classrooms. They are requesting a variance for <br />setback and lot coverage. A petition from the surrounding neighborhood was submitted <br />to the board concerning the lack of parking for the church. Pastor Goodwin said they <br />would not lose parking spaces because at present them is no on site parking lot. He said <br />the Town Council President had given permission for the church to use the Town Hall <br />parking lot at the comer of South Indiana and Harrison Streets on Sundays. Miller's <br />Merry Manor had also given them permission to use a part of their parking lot on <br />Sundays. Miller's is located farther down from the Church on West Harrison Street. <br />Pastor Goodwin told the board the sanctuary dated back to 1914 and the back part of the <br />building dated back to 1941. At present the highest attendance was 151 and the lowest <br />was 44. He said the seniors have trouble navigating the stairs to the basement for Sunday <br />School or other activities. Jon Swisher asked the Pastor if he thought the membership <br />would increase and he said probably. <br /> <br />FROM THE FLOOR: <br /> <br />Linda England, 57 West Harrison Street, told the board the building would totally <br />obstruct the whole fight view and normally there are four to five cars parked on the back <br />lot. Ann Folk-126 South Jefferson- said it was impossible to come up Broad Alley and <br />see left to fight to pull out onto the street. <br /> <br />Nancy Berwick spoke saying she lived two houses from the church and she doesn't <br />oppose the church growing, but #1 cars are parked behind the church on their grass and <br />#2 if the addition is a community building, there will be small children and fast traffic on <br /> <br /> <br />
