Mooresville Plan Commission
March 18, 1974

The Mooresville Plan Commission met in regular session on
March 18, 1974 at 7:30 P.M.. Members present were: Steve Edwards,
Bart Hensley, Bill Roberson, Lewis Truax, John Carney and
Eweather Stephens. Also present was David Lawson, attorney for
the Plan Commission.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The Plan Commission heard the following petitions:
1. Petition #1, 1974 by Merle and Radonna Sears. Petitioners
were represented by Attorney John Mills. ,Forms pertaining to the
requested re-zoning were reviewed by attorney David Lawson and found
to be in order. Evidence was then heard from attorney Mills that
petitioners Merle and Radonna Sears wish to have property at
311 Northeast Street (lots 26 & 27) re-zoned from Residential A
single, to Residential B, Multi-family.

No remonstrators appeared in opposition, but Mr. Ray House
and Mr. Cecil Bailey appeared to indicate they were in favor of the
re-zoning.
Mr. Edwards made a motion that the Plan Commission recommend
approval to the Town Board of re-zoning as requested in the petition.
The motion was seconded by John Carney and approved by all members
present.

2. Petition #2, 1974, by Herbert Haggard and Merle Haggard.
Petitioners were represented by attorney Steve Mcilwain. Forms of
application were reviewed by attorney Lawson and found in order.

Evidence was heard from the representing attorney that property
owners wish to have lots 8 & 10 located at the Northeast corner of
Carlisle and Wheeler Sts., re-zoned from Residential A, single family
to Residential B, Multi-family.

Two adjacent property owners, Mrs. Ralph Mendenhall and Mrs.
Francis Ward appeared to learn what is being planned structurally
in the event of the re-zoning and requirements of the zoning code
as regards parking facilities. Mr. Haggard indicated to them it was
his intention to build a brick double on each lot (8&10) and to abide
by building codes and ordinances for this venture. After some general
discussion and upon looking over some tentative floor plans there
didn't appear to be objections to the re-zoning.

Upon hearing all concerned parties a motion was made by Steve
Edwards that the Plan Commission recommend approval to the Town Board
to rezone as requested in the petition. The motion was seconded by
Lewis Truax and unanimously approved by all members present.

Election of officers of the Plan commission for the year 1974
was a follows:

~
-

Chairman - Steve Edwards by unanimous ballot

Vice Chairman - William Roberson by unanimous
ballot.
