Mooresville Planning Board V Mooresville Park Board Gentlemen: Let the records show that on March 28, 1972 I have again requested the Town Board to construct some kind of sidewalk on North Monroe Street, and that the other above named beards will receive a similar request on their next stated meetings. In 1968 a petition with several hundred names was presented to the Town Board, School Board and Planning Board requesting sidewalks be built on all streets within one mile of the school. Copies of this petition have been ~hown to the present boards for their review. I i I , I The School Board is requested to repair the walks in front of the Newby SChool, an:! finish cons true ti on in front of the parking lot. lhe Town Board say they wouldn't feel right about asking a widow (Mrs. Medsker) to allow construction in front of her house if she doesn't want it. Since there is already a utility strip with large poles it doesn't seem that much damage would be done. Perhaps they could pay her for this. As a taxpayer of the town and township for the past. forty years, I don't understand such concern for someone who has been living in torm without having to pay town taxes until recently. The petition of 1968 quoted a section of law which shows how SChool boards may use cummu1ative building funds for repairs, and the tol.'Il may use the Barrett law for such cons truction. Since I paid for about two hundred feet of walk on two sides of my lot by the Barrett law, and thousands of school children have walked on this walk, I believe it is not unreasonable to ex- pect other property owners to do the same. I paid for this myself on a woman's salary, and I have been a widow much longer than Mrs. Hedsker. If the Board should choose to builrl on the east side, Mr. Denny long ago indicated he would not object to a walk on the inside of the trees. The Mooresvi11e police car was completely totaled when the marshal tried to avoid hitting a pedestrian in this area. Therefore, I believe the time has come to remedy this situation before cold weather. I have asked every Board since 1967 to remedy the situation, and although none have obliged I hope this one will. '- The Sta te of Indiana owns a 39 foot right of way, and it may be dis covered there is space between their right of way and the property line. ' Sincerely, Rebecca S.
