<br />Mr. Lina sdd tlo.at the Plan Commission had recoJ:lJllended the new
<br />zoning ordinance to the Town Board and that the Commission must work on a La.nd
<br />Use map ,nd plan a ~Tork session on the map. April 24, 1971 at 1:00 P.M. was
<br />set for a work session.

<br />Nev.Business:- Rehearing on the Marathon Oil Property'.. Mr. Williams, Regional
<br />attoney for l-lRrathon Oil spoke of Marathon's interest in the property..

<br />l>Jio. Omer Stocker, in cMrge of Harathon Real Estat~cquisition, explained
<br />the re'lsons for the Co. Interest in this :particular location at Indiana &
<br />Wash. st.
<br />Mr. Ed Herrington, Professional appraisor, said the property was a classic
<br />case of prime commercial property. Mr. David Cardwell form Marathon Oil Co.
<br />supplied information from the Horgan Co. Auditor, Assessor & treasurers
<br />offices, showing qssessments from 1951 on adjacent property to present service
<br />stations in Mooresville. Mr. Robel!t Hurray, a civ.!.l engineer, stated he was
<br />asked by Marathon to study the proposed property andre.ommend a better drain
<br />system. Mr. Williams spoke on the leM incidence of" ccidents on service sta tion
<br />property. Mr. Bibwman spoke on his re"sons forrequesting rezoning.

<br />Mr. Dunnegar, representing 189 citizens opposed to rezoning of the property,
<br />argued against the petition. Mr.Ralph Lett addressed the Connnission and
<br />atated he is opposed to locating a service station on the S.W. corner of
<br />Indiana & Wash. Sts. Mre. Hardin asked about the st,ation on Indiana & Main Sts.
<br />Mr. John HcGuire addressed the board on hisnew construction on the northeast side
<br />of tow ana stated he had gre~d confidence in the Commission and hoped they would
<br />reach a decision for the good oi'HoorellVille.
<br />
<br />A Motion was mde by Fuld to 'vote' on the rezoning petition, seconded by G.Ditton.
<br />Six(6) in favor of motion, one (1) opposed. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />A Motion waSllBde by Fuld that the rezoning petition be recOllllOOnded to the Town
<br />Board, seconded by G.Ditton. Vote as :Collaws: In Favor of petition, a.Worland,
<br />a.Ditton, W. Tactitt, D.Fuik" A.gainst petition: R.Summerlot, M. Stanley, J.
<br />Henderson. Motion carried.
