MINUTES OF THE METROPOLITAN POLICE <br /> COMMISSIONERS MEETING <br /> FEBRUARY 17, 2005 <br /> <br /> The meeting was ,ot~ened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone <br /> to the February 17 Police Commissioners Meeting. <br /> <br /> In attendance were Commissioners, Dr. Knierim, and Dean Kays. Chief Viles was also <br /> present. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Kays motioned to approve the minutes from the last meeting. Dr. Knierim <br /> seconded. <br /> <br /> NEW BUSINESS: Officer Pugh's new K-9 is named Callie. She is 2 years old. The funds <br /> to purchase Callie were 100% donated. Callie has all of her shots and her training is <br /> guaranteed for life. She is trained in tracking and narcotics. Officer Pugh will be traveling <br /> to Michigan to get Callie and will receive his training at that time. The school he will be <br /> attending is Northern Michigan K-9 Training. The training is 1 month long. He will be <br /> gone from March 1 to April 1. A kennel has been installed in Officer Pugh's police <br /> vehicle. Officer Pugh is building a kennel at his residence for Callie. The funds for the <br /> kennel were also donated. The department will be purchasing a tracking collar and leash. <br /> Officer Pugh will carry the K-9 5 days a week. <br /> <br />NEW VIDEO EQUIPMENT-New video and audio equipment has been purchased and <br />installed in the conference room. Interviews, confessions, victim's statements, etc. can <br />now be recorded on video. The new recorder records 30 days on a hard disc. <br /> <br />NEW CARS-The new cars are up and running. Five cars went to the auction. The <br />Mooresville Cars, by far, brought more money than the other police cars being sold at the <br />auction. Previous customers are calling Auction inquiring about the Mooresville Cars. <br /> <br />PLAN COMMISSION-Darrell Brown has taken the vacant position on the Planning <br />Commission. <br /> <br />NEW STREET LIGHTS-The Town Council is requesting that 2nd and 3rd shift officers <br />make note of any street lights that are out and pass that information on to dispatch. The <br />day shift supervisor will relay the message to the Street Department. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS-The Police Commission has approached different members of the <br />Town Council suggesting a new officer. They have said they will think about it for now. <br /> <br /> <br />
