MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE <br /> COMMISSIONERS MEETING <br /> <br /> FEBRUARY 20, 2003 <br /> <br />The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. In attendance were; <br />Commissioners Dr. Knierim, Chuck Berwick, and Dean Kays. Also, ChiefViles, Captain <br />Allen, and Attorney Tim Currens. <br /> <br />Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone to the February 20th Mooresville Police Commissioners <br />meeting. Commissioner Kays motioned to approve the minutes from the last meeting, <br />Commissioner Berwick seconded. <br /> <br />Dr. Knierim talked about the Town Council's decision on the buy back. That should be <br />determined at the March 4th meeting. <br /> <br />Captain Allen discussed the police cars that_ale for. sale. The. re are .c,urre.nt~fo. our.,different <br />agencies interested in some of the vehicles. There ~s an auction on March o . l~mere are <br />any vehicles left, they will be sent to auction. <br /> <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br /> ChiefViles said that Eric Pugh will be sworn in at 1 lam at the Mooresville Police <br /> Department on February 21 st. He will start training on February 22nd. <br /> Lt. Paris commented on what a good job Annette Downing is doing. <br /> Lt. Clark's retirement was discussed. His paperwork has been presented and the effective <br /> date will be March 7th. <br /> <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> PROMOTIONS: <br /> There are two positions currently open for Sergeants. Dr. Knierim spoke on how all of <br /> the applicants were good candidates. No omi interview was needed. Recommendations <br /> have been made by the senior officers. The promotions were made based on the <br /> recommendations and the other information that was made available. The two new <br /> Sergeants are Bill Snyder and Mark Harris. The Police Department is anticipating another <br /> position available for Sergeant in the near furore. The new Sergeants positions will be <br /> effective on 2/22/2003. <br /> <br /> The new SOP for promotions will be complete for the next meeting. <br /> <br /> The next meeting will be 3/20/2003. <br /> <br /> <br />
