MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE COMMISSIONERS MEETING FEBRUARY 20, 2003 The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. In attendance were; Commissioners Dr. Knierim, Chuck Berwick, and Dean Kays. Also, ChiefViles, Captain Allen, and Attorney Tim Currens. Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone to the February 20th Mooresville Police Commissioners meeting. Commissioner Kays motioned to approve the minutes from the last meeting, Commissioner Berwick seconded. Dr. Knierim talked about the Town Council's decision on the buy back. That should be determined at the March 4th meeting. Captain Allen discussed the police cars that_ale for. sale. The. re are .c,urre.nt~fo. our.,different agencies interested in some of the vehicles. There ~s an auction on March o . l~mere are any vehicles left, they will be sent to auction. OLD BUSINESS ChiefViles said that Eric Pugh will be sworn in at 1 lam at the Mooresville Police Department on February 21 st. He will start training on February 22nd. Lt. Paris commented on what a good job Annette Downing is doing. Lt. Clark's retirement was discussed. His paperwork has been presented and the effective date will be March 7th. NEW BUSINESS PROMOTIONS: There are two positions currently open for Sergeants. Dr. Knierim spoke on how all of the applicants were good candidates. No omi interview was needed. Recommendations have been made by the senior officers. The promotions were made based on the recommendations and the other information that was made available. The two new Sergeants are Bill Snyder and Mark Harris. The Police Department is anticipating another position available for Sergeant in the near furore. The new Sergeants positions will be effective on 2/22/2003. The new SOP for promotions will be complete for the next meeting. The next meeting will be 3/20/2003.
