MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE <br /> COMMISSIONERS MEETING <br /> <br /> January 16, 2003 <br /> <br />The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. In attendance were; Dennis <br />Knierim, Chuck Berwick, Dean Kays, Chief Viles, Captain Allen, and Attorney Tim <br />Currens. <br />Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone to the January 16tb Mooresville Police <br />Commissioners meeting. Commissioner Berwick made a motion to approve the <br />minutes from the last meeting. Commissioner Kays seconded. <br /> <br />There was no Old Business. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Chief Viles asked the Commissioners to consider hiring another officer tonight. Sgt. <br />Minardo has officially retired, so there is an immediate opening. <br /> Commissioner Kays talked briefly on the 6 remaining candidates. He made a motion <br /> to offer employment to Eric Pugh to replace Dave Minardo. He also motioned to <br /> offer employment to Lasheile Waskom, contingent on an upcoming retirement. <br /> Commissioner Berwick seconded. <br /> Captain Allen made a phone call to Eric Pugh to offer him the position, to which he <br /> accepted. <br /> Chief Viles will check with Sandy Perry on when the 1st pay period in February <br /> starts. <br /> Dr. Knierim mentioned re-organization for the 2003 year. Commissioner Kays <br /> motioned the Dr. Knierim remain president for 2003. Commissioner Berwick <br /> seconded. <br /> Dr. Knierim wished Sgt. Minardo well and wanted to thank him for his years of <br /> service. Chief Viles asked permission to purchase a retirement badge for Sgt. <br /> Minardo. <br /> The Commission requested that Officer Downing come to the next Town Council <br /> meeting on 1/21/2003, so she can be introduced to the council. <br /> <br /> PROMOTIONS: <br /> <br /> <br />
