MINUTES OF THE OF METROPOLITAN POLICE COMMISSIONERS <br /> MEETING <br /> SEPTEMBER 16, 2004 <br /> <br />The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone <br />to the September 16th Police Commissioners Meeting. <br />In attendance were Commissioner' s, Dr. Knierim, Chuck Berwick, and Dean Kays. Chief <br />Viles and Attorney Tim Currens were also in attendance. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kays motioned to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. <br />Commissioner Berwick seconded. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Chief Viles announced that Lt. Forbes has been called to active duty effective the 20th of <br />this month. He will be gone for 18th months. The tentative plan for supervision on 3rd <br />shift, is putting Captain Allen as the supervisor on 1st shift, then moving one of the <br /> Lieutenants to 3ra shift. Chief Viles will have the new schedule available at the next <br /> meeting. <br /> <br /> The new officers are still doing their FTO's. September 27th is the target date for them to <br /> go to their permanent shifts. <br /> <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> High Powered Weapons-Capt. Allen has prices on weapons and the department hopes to <br /> buy two to three in the near future. Chief Viles has talked to Detective Dan Downing <br /> from Morgan Co. about the SWAT Team and training. The training is 4-8 hours per <br /> month. During the summer months, training is 40 hours. Chief Viles will talk with <br /> Downing in more detail. <br /> <br /> The next meeting will be October 21, 2004. <br /> Commissioner Berwick motioned to adjoum.
