MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE COMMISSIONERS <br /> MARCH 20, 199/ <br /> <br /> The Town of Mooresville Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners met at the Town <br />Hall, 26 S. Indiana St., on March 20, I997 with Commissioners Thomas Warthen, Dr. Dennis <br />Knierim and Dr. Richard Soughers all being present along with the Counsel for the Board <br />Timothy C. Currens and Chief Town Marshall Tim Viles and Lieutenant Larry Mason also <br />being present. The meeting was called to order and the Commissioners agreed to appoint <br />Thomas Warthen as the Commissioner to chair the meetings. The Commission then agreed to <br />set a regular meeting date of the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. The Commissioners <br />instructed Chief Viles to prepare an Agenda for the meetings and to copy Town Council Member <br />Jim Hensley with the Agenda. They also instructed Chief Viles to report directly to the Board <br />of Metropolitan Police Commissioners who would in turn communicate to Council Member Sim <br />Hensley of departmental issues. <br /> <br /> The Board then proceeded to the appointment of Police Officers and civilian Police <br /> Department employees. A motion was made by Dr. Richard Soughers to approve the written <br /> Appointments. The same was seconded by Thomas Warthen and unanimously carried. These <br /> Appointments will be forwarded to the Town Council for final approval. The Board also <br /> appointed Tim Viles as Police Chief subject to the approval of the Town Council. <br /> <br /> The next item on the Agenda was operating procedures and Tim Viles advised that he <br /> had been reviewing new drafts of operating procedures and would have ten (10) sections ready <br /> for them by the next meeting. He advised that he would provide approximately ten (10) sections <br /> at each meeting and estimated two (2) to three (3) months for a complete review. He also <br /> discussed the need for replacing Off'tcer Tim Cummins who is resigning and going to the State <br /> <br /> <br />
