<br />c <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE COMMISSIONERS <br />DECEMBER 21, 2000 <br /> <br />The Town of Mooresville Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners met December 21, <br /> <br />2000 with board members Dr. Dennis Knierim, Dean Kays, Charles Berwick and legal council <br /> <br />Timothy Currens. The meeting was preceded by the pledge of allegiance, then called to order by <br /> <br />Dr. Dennis Knierim. <br /> <br />Minutes of the November meeting were approved. <br /> <br />Old Business: <br /> <br />Dr. Knierim advised that the Commissioners held an Executive Session to review a <br /> <br />Disciplinary action that was written by the Chief All material was reviewed, and dis- <br /> <br />Cussion resulted in the following comments by the Board Members: <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />Dr. Knierim felt there should be no change in the Chief's decision. <br />Dean Kays felt the Officers complaint was unfounded The Officer was not found negligent, <br />only at fault. He was also criticized for not having his in car camera on, but there is not a written <br />Procedure addressing that, and should be looked at after the first of the year. <br />Dean also feels a procedure needs to be looked at on establishing an Accident Review Board <br />selection process, and that patrol cars should not be used for EVOC training. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Dean Kays and seconded by Charles Berwick to sustain with the Chiefs <br />Decision. <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />Chief Viles advised that Officer Matt Williams has rendered his resignation, and has accepted <br /> <br />A job at Morgan County Sheriff's Department. December 2rJh will be his last day.
