MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE <br /> COMM/SSIONERS <br /> <br /> July 16, 2001 <br /> <br />Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone to the July 16a Mooresville Police Commissioners <br />meeting. In attendance were Commissioner Dean Kays, Chuck Berwick and Attorney Tim <br />Currens. Mr. Rick Overton, Mrs. Overton and Kenny Johnson were also present. <br /> <br />The Board opened the meeting by saying the Pledge of Allegiance, Dr. Knierim called the <br />meeting to Order and the minutes for May 24, 2001 were approved. (The Board did not <br />meet in June.) <br /> <br />The Board moved to Executive Session, topic: Personnel. <br /> <br />The Board opened the regular meeting with the motion to appoint Rick Overton and <br />Kenny Johnson, Mooresville Police Reserves. The vote was 3-0 in favor/ Dean Kays <br />asked Chief Viles to ask Clerk/Treasure Sandy Perry to swear officers Overton and <br />Johnson <br />in on Friday July 17m at noon. Mr. Kays stated, if Mrs. Perry was not available to ask <br />Judge Paul Sterrett to perform the ceremony. <br /> <br />The Board discussed the Mooresville Police Hiring Process, but decided not to address <br />the procedure until we have plans to hire new officers. <br /> <br />The Five-Year Program was discusses and Chief Viles reported on the achievements made <br />on the Five-Year Plan. Dr. Knierim complimented the Plan and the need to keep it current. <br />Dean Kays mentioned the Supervisors Office and the need to remodel, as in the Officer's <br />Staff Room. Chief Viles said the new phone up-grade was installed and is a great addition <br />to the Department. Dr. Knierin asked all to review the Plan and if they had any ideas or <br />suggestions to contact Chief Viles. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kays suggested we check into and order Caller Identification for the <br />Dispatch Area. <br /> <br />Chief Viles commented on the Standard Operating Procedures being a Living Document <br />and the need to review it periodically. Chief Viles mentioned we need to work with in the <br />Guidelines of the Town of Mooresville. <br /> <br /> <br />
