November 21, 2002 Mooresville Zoning Board Town Hall, Mooresville, IN 46158 To Whom It May Concern: Subject: Deer Processing in a Residential Area We the undersigned wish to request the closure of the business being operated on the property at the south end of Interurban Lane, off Crosby Rd. There is a young man butchering deer in our neighborhood. He has had a commercial dumpster brought in for the refuse. This dumpster attracts all the neighborhood dogs and strays. The neighborhood dogs generally stay in their own yards without this attraction. The young man has a large black Labrador Retriever that barks at every animal that comes around. This goes on all night. The dogs drag the refuse away from the dumpster and leave it lying around the neighborhood. This can't be sanitary. The trash company comes at 6 o'clock in the morning to empty this dumpster. They have to back up to it beeping all the time and making a lot of noise. Too much noise for a residential area, and too much to have going on outside some of our bedroom windows in what is basically the fxont yard for some of us. There is also a question as to whether this would be considered hazardous material and should be disposed of in a particular way. This young man told us that he didn't have to have a permit from the health department to process deer. Now that may be tree if he is only doing his own deer. However, tracks drive in at all hours of the day and night (shining lights in some of our bedroom windows) to drop off deer to be processed. He is doing this for a lot of people and getting paid to do so. We don't enjoy interfering in someone else's business, (especially when they are trying to make a living), however this is affecting the quality of life in the neighborhood. This is a residential zone, not a commercial zone. The location of this operation is off Crosby Rd on Interurban. The exact address is not known because there is no mailbox on Crosby.
