195 There being no further business to come before the Mooresville Town Council at this time motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Heald, second by Councilman Viles. Motion carried unanimously. The next regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held Tuesday, September 7 1993 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Town Hall. ' Pr~ident ~ ATTEST: Clerk-Treasure~ September 7, 1993 The regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council was held Tuesday, September 7 1993 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Town Hall. ' Council members present were Tim Viles, Steve Edwards, Pat Overholser, Dick Heald and Steve Ballard. No members were absent. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as submitted. Mr. Gary Meyers, Mooresville School Corporation Superintendent, appeared before the Council to advise the Town that due to legislation passed in April 1992 the schools could no longer have children under the age of eighteen act as patrols on town streets. Due to this legislation the school would like for the town to employee additional school crossing guards for heavily traveled intersections in town. Mr. & Mrs. Chris Fluke addressed the Council on this matter stating the need for crossing guards on Monroe Street at all intersections. Karen Crane addressed the Council in regard to the need of a crossing guard at Carlisle Street and Maple Lane. Mrs. Mitzi Forbes advised the Council of the volume of traffic at Monroe Street and Main Street and the lack of motorists concern for the children at this intersection. Ms. Julie King addressed the Council in regard to the problem of children running in front of cars around the schools. After much discussion on this matter Council President Ballard appointed a committee of himself, Tim Currens, Police Chief George Ditton, Bill Colbert, Jim Forrester, Gary Meyers, Steve Harris and Ann Whaley to work out a solution to this matter. Motion was made by Councilman Edwards, second by Councilman Viles to approve the first reading of Ordinance #11-1993 An Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance. Motion carried unanimously. Motion was made by Councilman Viles second by Councilman Edwards to adopt Ordinance #12-1993 An Ordinance Amending Ordinance #26-1992. Motion carried unanimously. Motion was made by Councilman Heald, second by Councilwoman Overholser to adopt Ordinance #10-1993 An Ordinance Rezoning Property Upon Application of John E. Medsker. Motion carried unanimously.
