Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Motion was then made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman <br /> Wright to accept the Ordinance in it's entirety. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Chief Police Tim Viles mentioned the R.V. parked at Washington and <br /> Maple Lane will be moved up to 15 feet. If that did'nt take care of the <br /> problem, the R.V. would be moved entirely. Councilman Hensley stated <br /> that the R.V. parked at this particular place was definitely a dangerous <br /> situation. <br /> <br /> Police Chief Viles requested permission to look into the purchase <br /> of an alternative uniform for different circumstances when the other <br /> uniform is not appropriate such as, range duty, inclimate weather, or <br /> attending the training academy. Purchase by the officers would be <br /> optional. <br /> <br /> A discussion proceeded concerning the former Economic Director's <br /> leased Ford Taurus and the possibility of using the car for a Police <br /> undercover car. Chief Viles and Councilman Hensley will check out <br /> police car types and see if the Taurus can be utilized. <br /> <br /> Councilman Mathis and Joe Beikman of the Street Department will <br /> work together on the streets needing paved this year and report findings <br /> to the next council meeting. <br /> <br /> Councilman Mathis reported the EDC office and Chanber of Con~nerce <br /> office is moving to the Town Hall into the former Dispatch office. The <br /> office will be repainted and possible re-carpeted. The times office <br /> has been notified. <br /> <br /> ~ill Abbott of the Plan Commission and Joe Beikman of the Street <br /> Department displayed a map of land areas for "potential" development. <br /> There are six (6) possible areas within the buffer zone. Although two <br /> (2) possible land areas belonging to the Fields family is tied up in <br /> trusts. The areas are along St. Rd. 67. Approximately thirty-five <br /> (35) acres around Country Corner Furniture Store. There is a triangle <br /> of land south of Crosby Road on the left side of St. Rd. 67 by General <br /> Shale. Some ground is left by the Perkins Restaurant. Sixty-eight <br /> acres remain in Meadowbrook PUDI, land remains in White Lick (Linel) <br /> PUDI, ninety acres left in the Rawlings Development where Woods Wire <br /> is located. <br /> <br /> Co~cilmanWright will be the r~presentative from the To~n of <br /> Mooresville to the February 12, 1996 meeting of the Mooresville Plan <br /> Commission. <br /> <br /> The Animal Control Officer reported eighteen (18) calls and two <br /> (2) impounds and announced February is Pet Overpopulation Month. <br /> <br /> The Park Board will meet Monday, February 12, 1996 and the Park <br /> Superintendent will present the Annual Repart at that time. <br /> <br /> b~tion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Dolen <br /> to increase the opening of grave charges by the Town from $300.00 to <br /> $320.00, infants to $160.00, removals to $450.00 and Cremations to <br /> $120.00. Motion carried unamously. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Wright <br /> to purchase the former Post Office Building located at 104 West Main <br /> Street for $105,000.00. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Motion for a resolution to proceed with the purchase was made by <br /> Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Wright. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> <br /> An Executive Session was scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 1996 <br /> to discuss purchase of Post Office property. <br /> <br /> A meeting will be set with Dick Lahr of our Core Source Health <br /> Insurance to inform us of the total benefits of our policy.
