Councilman Hensley stated he would <br /> like to take another look at the proposed Ordinance. ~otion was <br /> made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Wright to table <br /> the second reading of the Burglar Alarm Ordinance to the July 1, 1996 <br /> meeting. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Councilman Dolen asked if the Town Council can do anything about old <br /> abandoned deteriorating homes. Town Attorney Tim Currens informed <br /> the Council we do have an Unsafe Building Ordinance but it has it's <br /> limits. The Property Owners have rights. The Ordinance prerequisite <br /> is to send a letter to the property owner citing the conditions that <br /> need remedied. If there is no response the Town will cut the weeds <br /> and grass and bill the property owner. If the property owner does <br /> not pay the bill, the Town sends the amount to the County to go as <br /> a lien against their property taxes. After discussion, the Town <br /> Council advised Building Inspector Joe Beikman to send letters to <br /> these property owners. The Council is prepared to back up the letters. <br /> The Town Council opened bids for the drywall finishing at the Police <br /> Station at 105 West Main Street. <br /> <br /> B & B Quality Finishes (Morgantown) $2650 <br /> (Can begin immediately) <br /> <br /> Drywall Finisher (Mooresville) $2122 <br /> (Can begin June 24, 1996) <br /> <br /> ~{otion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Wright to <br /> accept the bid from B & B Quality Finishes because they can begin <br /> immediately. Motion carried 4-1 with Councilman Pygman opposing. <br /> <br /> The Town Council opened bids for the acoustic ceiling : <br /> <br /> Perry Acoustics $3989 <br /> <br /> Custom Acoustics $3800 <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen second by Councilman Wright to <br /> accept the bid from Custom Acoustics. Motion carried 4-1 with <br /> Councilman Hensley opposing. <br /> The Council discussed two bids for carpet and tile from Carpet Mill <br /> and Marian Adams. The Council decided not to vote at this time. <br /> They want to get quotes for ceramic tile instead of regular tile. <br /> Councilman Pygman informed the board Nice-Pak had a meter not working <br /> correctly and are reluctant to pay the sewer bill. The meter has <br /> been pulled. Nice-Pak had entered an agreement with the other Town <br /> Council that billing would be based on actual usage, but they had to <br /> buy the meter. Town attorney Tim Currens has sent three letters to <br /> Nice-Pak concerning their billing. The Clerk Treasur's Office found <br /> this discrepency in January 1996. The Town is giving them a period <br /> of time to meet with us to resolve the matter. <br /> A discussion was held pertaining to water running over County Line <br /> Road and the need for a ditch. Councilman Pygman will contact the <br /> Council in Guilford Township. <br /> The Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported thirty (30) calls, <br /> six (6) impounds, and one (1) return. <br /> Councilman Wright distributed a drawing of a plan for the renovation <br /> of the back part of the Town Hall which will be the Court Room and <br /> the Meeting Room. <br /> Clerk-Treasurer Sandy Perry gave the Council a Calendar of important <br /> dates for the Budget Preparation. The advertising of the Budget will <br /> go to the local papers on July 26, 1996. Dick Newcomer informed the <br /> Clerk-Treasurer the Town could go month to month on their lease for <br /> the Town Court even up to October, 1996, thirty day notification is <br /> required. <br /> <br /> <br />
