Next to appear before the Council was Jack McGuire. His <br />property located at 356 East Bridge Street has two wells on the <br />Sewer hook-up that are not being used. Waste Water Treatment <br />Plant Danny Tingle said that the two wells need to be capped off. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Dolen <br />to Allow Mr. McGuire to cap off the two wells in ten (10) days <br />and to waive the sewer bills from April 1 to July 1, 1996 account <br />~ 05804912 in the amount of $ 331.01 and there be <br />no more bills processed on this account.A~so'Danny Tin.gteland Joe <br />Beikman Will inspect the wells after they are capped off. Motion <br />Carried 4-1. Council President Mathis opposed. <br /> <br />Unfinished business included truck W~ghts on certain Town streets, <br />and the wording of Ordinance ~11 (Weed Ordinance)needs to be <br />changed. These will be addressed at the July 15, 1996 Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Town Council President Mathis had a suggestion for the cost of <br />Alarms in the Burglar Alarm Ordinanace ~ 6. If a person or a <br />Business has one alarm the cost per year is $600, if a person <br />or a business has two alarms the cost per year is 300.00 each, <br />and if a person or business has three or more alarms the cost is <br />$200.00 each. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Wright, second by Councilman Dolen <br />to change the cost in Ordinance ~6,Burglar Alarm Ordinance in <br />accordance to Council President Mathis suggestion. Everything <br />else stays the same except for the twenty-five ($25) dollar permit <br />fee and Section 12(those users are responsible for the violation <br />provided for in Section 9). Motion carried 4-1. Councilman <br />Hensley opposed. <br /> <br />Next bids were opened for Ceramic tile and carpet for the new <br />Police Station. The bids were: <br /> <br /> Marion Adams $9,482.77 <br /> Carpetmill $7,022.46 <br /> <br />The materials are of the same quality. Motion was made by <br />Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Wright to accept the bid <br />from Carpetmill because it was lower. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Councilman Pygman questioned overtime pay for Town Employees. <br />If an employee takes a sick or vacation day during a forty hour <br />work week,should that employee then receive time and a half for <br />working on that Saturday? This has been happening for the last <br />twelve years. After much discussion, the Council tabled this <br />matter until the current time. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Wright <br /> to put a referendum on the November ballot to abolish the current <br /> Marshall system for the Town of Mooresville, and to designate <br /> Council President Mathis as signatory. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Hensley <br /> to approve Resolution ~2 to spend the reimbursed insurance money <br /> from the hail storm on the building and car repairs. Motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Hensley second by Councilman Pygman <br /> to approve the enlargement letter to the Public Employee's <br /> Retirement Fund to add on the positions of Town M~rshall and <br /> Clerk-Treasurer. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Wri§ht <br />to approve Crystal Flash to install an air system as part of the <br />clean up from the spill Crystal Flash had. This is on Town ri§ht <br />of way., and they would be required to protect the Town from any <br />damages that mi§hr occur during installation. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Joe Beikman informed the Council Milestone <br />Street <br />Pavin§ would begin on the streets on July 2, 1996. <br /> <br /> <br />
