Bill Langerall from Hoosier Encrgy appeared before thc Council to request pcrnffssion to cross <br />Town property at the Waste Water Treatment Plant. They arc attcmpting to get thch' lines from <br />Southbridge Crossing north to Wendy's restaurant. Thc owner of thc Jolm Dcerc property didn't <br />want to grant an easement for Hoosier Ener~' to use. Hoosicr Encr~' didn't want to go out h~to <br />the Highway. After much discussion thc decision was to send Councihnan Dolcn to thc <br />Wastewater Trcamcnt Plant with Bill Langcrall to t'md out exactly where the lines needed to go <br />and il'the existing II:'L pole needs to be. moved. Tiffs item was tablcd to the March 3, 1998 <br />meeting. <br /> <br />President Nlark Mathis issued a statement; hc wants thc ].'own to make a concentrated cllbr! to <br />clean up the Tox~n. Tiffs includes getting rid of abandoned vclficlcs, weeds, cie. as much as Iht <br />Law allows. In reference to all zoning abuses, the Plan Commission follows up on written <br />complaints. <br /> <br /> Councihnan Pygman wants strcct lights installed at all h~tcrscctions on I hghway 67 to make each <br /> area very brightly lit. Street Commissioner Joe Beikman will get prices on street lights. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councihnan Hensley, second by Councilman Wright to approve the State <br /> Cmmnunit3' Development Block Grant of $45,000.00, a proof'am to study the Broolanore project. <br /> Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Wright, second by Councihnan Dolen to approve contracth~g <br /> the Consulting sen,ices of Wabash Scientific to prepare the CFF grant for the Brookmore Project. <br /> Cost is $3,000 for rite Em&o~unent Re¥iew. Tiffs also covers admhfistration of Grant if received. <br /> Motion carded 5-0. <br /> <br /> Town Attorney Tim Cun'cns announced Senate Bill 190 to allow thc Town to purchasc back lime <br /> worked by Police for retirement had come out of Conunittcc and gone to the Itousc. <br /> New police patrolman, Bcnnie Schuck was present at thc meeting and introduced lo thc Council. <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Dolen to appoint John <br /> Burnside to the Police Commission, a democrat for a tlu'ce year period. Motion carded 5-0. <br /> Councilman Dolen praised the Fire Department for a job well done at a fire at his Daughler's <br /> home. <br /> <br /> Street Commissioner Joe Beikman reminded the Council a list was needed of sidewalk and slreet <br /> repairs for the next meeting. <br /> <br /> EDC Director Harold Gutzwiller reported thc Public Hcarhig for Brool, anore Sewer Project held <br /> before the Town Council meeting went well with ~/~, of the casements being signed by properly <br /> owners. 100 % of the easements have to be si~ed. The next public heating for lhe Broolm~ore <br /> Project will be held on March 9, 1998. <br /> <br /> No animal control report. <br /> <br /> Council President Mark Mathis announced the next mceth~g on March 3, 1998 will be a thile to <br /> select a Vice-President and reorganize the appointments of Commissioners to the dilTerent <br /> departments. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman ttenslcy to approve paymcni <br /> the claims.
