Bill Langerall from Hoosier Encrgy appeared before thc Council to request pcrnffssion to cross Town property at the Waste Water Treatment Plant. They arc attcmpting to get thch' lines from Southbridge Crossing north to Wendy's restaurant. Thc owner of thc Jolm Dcerc property didn't want to grant an easement for Hoosier Ener~' to use. Hoosicr Encr~' didn't want to go out h~to the Highway. After much discussion thc decision was to send Councihnan Dolcn to thc Wastewater Trcamcnt Plant with Bill Langcrall to t'md out exactly where the lines needed to go and il'the existing II:'L pole needs to be. moved. Tiffs item was tablcd to the March 3, 1998 meeting. President Nlark Mathis issued a statement; hc wants thc ].'own to make a concentrated cllbr! to clean up the Tox~n. Tiffs includes getting rid of abandoned vclficlcs, weeds, cie. as much as Iht Law allows. In reference to all zoning abuses, the Plan Commission follows up on written complaints. Councihnan Pygman wants strcct lights installed at all h~tcrscctions on I hghway 67 to make each area very brightly lit. Street Commissioner Joe Beikman will get prices on street lights. Motion was made by Councihnan Hensley, second by Councilman Wright to approve the State Cmmnunit3' Development Block Grant of $45,000.00, a proof'am to study the Broolanore project. Motion carried 5-0. Motion was made by Councilman Wright, second by Councihnan Dolen to approve contracth~g the Consulting sen,ices of Wabash Scientific to prepare the CFF grant for the Brookmore Project. Cost is $3,000 for rite Em&o~unent Re¥iew. Tiffs also covers admhfistration of Grant if received. Motion carded 5-0. Town Attorney Tim Cun'cns announced Senate Bill 190 to allow thc Town to purchasc back lime worked by Police for retirement had come out of Conunittcc and gone to the Itousc. New police patrolman, Bcnnie Schuck was present at thc meeting and introduced lo thc Council. Motion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Dolen to appoint John Burnside to the Police Commission, a democrat for a tlu'ce year period. Motion carded 5-0. Councilman Dolen praised the Fire Department for a job well done at a fire at his Daughler's home. Street Commissioner Joe Beikman reminded the Council a list was needed of sidewalk and slreet repairs for the next meeting. EDC Director Harold Gutzwiller reported thc Public Hcarhig for Brool, anore Sewer Project held before the Town Council meeting went well with ~/~, of the casements being signed by properly owners. 100 % of the easements have to be si~ed. The next public heating for lhe Broolm~ore Project will be held on March 9, 1998. No animal control report. Council President Mark Mathis announced the next mceth~g on March 3, 1998 will be a thile to select a Vice-President and reorganize the appointments of Commissioners to the dilTerent departments.
