-0- <br />August 20, 2002 <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at <br />6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br />Town Council members present: Mark Mathis, Andy Pygman, Toby Dolen, and John L. <br />Clark. President Tom Warthen was absent. Mark Mathis was acting President. Town <br />attorney Tim Currens was absent. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Pygman to approve the <br />minutes of the August 6, 2002. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Dean Mayfield appeared before the council concerning the health insurance plan costs for <br />the plan year beginning Sept 1, 2002. Earlier in the year we were told to plan for an <br />increase of 30 %. The actual increase was 3.5 % in projected premiums. The insurance <br />committee recommended renewing with AIG. Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, <br />second by Councilman Clark to approve the AIG plan. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Maura DiMeo did not appear before the council. <br />Dale Drake and Helen Wildrmuth from the cemetery committee for the county with the <br />Morgan County History and Geneology group appeared before the council to request <br />approval for a project at the Old Town Cemetery for restoration of the head stones. Ms. <br />Wildrmuth gave the council a form from the DNR that needed to be signed to meet DNR <br />regulations. The form was given to Tian Currens for review. The estimate for the work <br />was $5,300 and there needs to be more research done on the boundary of the cemetery. <br />The concensus of the Town Council members was they approved of the project. <br />Next on the agenda was a request for annexation from Amberwood Subdivision — HMJ- <br />Developers. Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to <br />approve the annexation subject to written documentation from Town Attorney Tim <br />Curren. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />Dennis Knierm, Mooresville Police Commission, appeared before the council to request <br />an increase for probationary patrolman to the 2002 Salary Ordinance. The increase <br />would bring the pay up to $28, 450.00 ($1,000 less than a patrolman). Motion was made <br />by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Pygman to amend salary ordinance to <br />increase probationary patrolman to $28, 450.00. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported twenty seven (27) calls, four (4) impounds, <br />and one (1) returned. <br />Don Brock, a resident of Sundown Manor, asked the council if Motorama had bought the <br />lot they were trying to rezone. Councilman Mathis told Mr. Brock no one knew if they <br />went ahead and purchased the lot. Mr. Brock also asked if the light in the fast circle in <br />Sundown Manor was a town light. Councilman Mathis said he would ask Building <br />Inspector Joe Beikman. Mr. Brock also wanted the abandoned semis at Dalton Trucking <br />looked into. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Pygman to approve <br />Transfer of Funds. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen to approve <br />payment of the claims. Motion carried 4-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time, a motion was <br />made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Pygman to adjourn the meeting. <br />Motion carried 4 -0. <br />
